Position Description:

The Barrick Nevada (BNV) Technology and Systems (TAS) Systems Engineer is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. They ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related tools, processes and procedures are effectively supported, monitored, and kept in a high state of availability to efficiently serve business needs, working closely with the Barrick Central TAS server infrastructure team.  The Systems Engineer has accountability across the entire infrastructure lifecycle including strategy, planning and design for new solutions, implementation, maintenance, incident response, and decommissioning.  They will work closely with other BNV functions including Service Delivery, Networking, Project Management and Cyber Security and Compliance in successfully executing their responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

• Support and maintain BNV TAS server infrastructure as well as documentation and standards.

• Maintain and administer Microsoft Server products specifically Active Directory, Exchange, System Center Configuration Management and System Center Operations Management.

• Interact with Microsoft cloud base solutions such as Azure, Office365.

• Interact with Amazon Web Services and solutions.

• Support and maintain Mobile Device Management system for multiple carriers and devices.

• Engineer BNV server and infrastructure solutions for various project and operational needs.

• Install new / rebuild existing BNV servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.

• Develop and maintain installation, configuration, operational and other procedures.

• Contribute to and comply with Barrick and BNV change control and other policies and standards.

• Develop and manage server infrastructure Management Operating System (MOS) and business processes including interactions with Central TAS Infrastructure and other BNV TAS functions.

• Rotate through an on-call roster on a periodic basis.

• Develop, transfer, and embed of best practices across Barrick Nevada Sites.

• Work closely with BNV Technical Services Lead to define the future state of BNV TAS server infrastructure.

• Communicate effectively with various levels of personnel.

• Demonstrate comfort in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift frequently.

• Demonstrate the ability to work with cross functional teams.

• Perform other duties as required.

   

  Qualifications:

• Two (2) year technical degree and/or certification or equivalent experience highly desirable.

• Industry certifications preferred.

• Minimum two (2) years of experience working in an infrastructure support role.
• Experience with troubleshooting hardware, software, and network connection incidents.
• Familiarity with mining technical applications preferred; Fleet Management, Dispatch, Mine Engineering and Planning systems, Spatial, Exploration, CAD, Environmental systems, Operational and Process measurements data acquisition, storage, reporting systems, and Safety and Health systems.
• Mining experience preferred.
• Exceptional safety, performance, and attendance records required.

This position is located within Barrick Nevada and assigned to a specific site directed by the BNV TAS Site Leader. Travel between BNV sites as required.
