Permitting Manager

Position Description:

Barrick is looking for a permitting manager to join our permitting group in Nevada.  The permitting group is primarily accountable for directing and executing major public land permitting efforts for Barrick Nevada operations.  This includes unique and cutting-edge permitting of sagebrush habitat enhancement projects. State permitting efforts are primarily managed by mine site environmental departments. Barrick’s portfolio of assets in Nevada presents an unparalleled opportunity to constantly manage complex federal permitting and NEPA activities.  This position presents the opportunity for rapid career progression. 

The manager will interface as necessary with public and governmental agencies on permitting matters.  The manager will also interface extensively with the company’s operations, government affairs, legal, land and environmental personnel.

Responsibilities:

• Manage Federal Land permitting and associated environmental review processes.

• Liaise with government agencies and community groups to implement the permitting and environmental review process.

• Keep abreast of any developing regulatory issues affecting the permitting process.

• Communication and coordination with site operations and environmental personnel, executive management, outside consultants and regulatory agencies

• Develop clear permitting execution plans.

• Identify, scope, and manage contractors and consultants to support assigned project permitting activities.

• Serve as the main regulatory point of contact for assigned permitting projects.

• Review technical reports, designs, and all other associated submittals to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with overall project objectives.

• Draft technical and permitting documents as necessary.

• Developing and implementing best practices and approaches for permitting activities in Nevada.

• Act in a proactive manner to anticipate issues and solve existing problems in the context of operational requirements
