Position Description:

Barrick is looking for a Underground Geologist to join the Underground Technical Services team.

Responsibilities:

• Provide a strong contribution to the site safety culture and programs, encouraging and ensuring others do the same.
• Work with mining crews, mine supervision and drilling crews to maintain a safe working environment.
• Monitor muck sample collection and timely submission of samples, geological mapping of active faces and other exposures underground;
• Collate geological data for level plans, compile mapping and assay information in VULCAN mining software and correlate it with existing models
• Update of ACQUIRE database and grade compilation for muck rounds
• Determine and monitor the routing of broken rock in the underground mine based on assays and mapping
• Geological logging of underground diamond core and RC chips
• Update geological interpretation
• Assist with geological studies as necessary 
• Prepare routine reports as required
• Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

• Bachelors of Science degree in Geology or related field required

• Excellent safety record required

• Ability to work within a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required

• Previous underground mine (or open pit) operations experience preferred

• Familiarity with logging diamond core and RC chips preferred

• Familiarity with Vulcan and Acquire software an advantage preferred

Barrick Nevada is an integrated gold mining operation that combines the Cortez and Goldstrike properties in Nevada, employing a total of 3,000 employees and 800 contractors. The operation utilizes both open pit and underground mining methods with Autoclave and Roaster processing facilities at Goldstrike and Milling/Heap Leaching facilities at Cortez.
