ALROSA to Protect Production Facilities with Security Service

June 30, 16 by David Brummer

(IDEX Online News) – ALROSA has announced that it will create its own departmental security service to protect the company’s production facilities.

The company said that based on amendments to Article 8 of the Federal Law of April 14, 1999, its relevant subdivisions will “protect diamond mining facilities fully owned by the said strategic joint-stock company and its affiliates.”

A previous version of Article 8 allowed for protected facilities, but not for specific security services. ALROSA joins other companies such as Rosneft, Transneft, Gazprom and others, who have the right to establish departmental security services.

“Adoption of amendments will allow increasing safety of the company’s production facilities located in remote and hard-to-reach regions of our country, and the state will be able to save up to RUB200 million ($3.12 million) a year,” said ALROSA vice president Rinat Gizatulin.
