India’s Mines Ministry has cautioned iron-ore bearing provinces of a ‘crisis’ by 2020, if they did not focus on the ‘efficient handling of mining leases,’ in their respective geographies.
In an advisory to key provinces rich in iron-ore resources like Odisha, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh, the Mines Ministry said that unless pace of exploration was stepped up along with aster renewal of expired mining leases, not only production of the raw material start to decline but a full scale crisis could emerge by turn of the decade.
