The Global Resource For Connecting Buyers and Sellers

Integrated Demand-Side Management Spending is Expected to Reach $1.2 Billion in 2025, According to Navigant Research

BOULDER, Colo.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–A new report from Navigant Research examines the global market for integrated demand-side management (IDSM), focusing on energy efficiency and demand response (DR) programs, with market forecasts for spending, through 2025.

IDSM has been a topic among demand-side management (DSM) professionals and utilities for a decade, but efforts to integrate energy efficiency and demand response (DR) in utility programs have been challenging. Today, though, key drivers that take technical, policy, and economic factors into account are pushing the market forward. Click to tweet: According to a new report from @NavigantRSRCH, global IDSM spending is expected to grow from $39.8 million in 2016 to $1.2 billion in 2025.

“Traditionally, energy efficiency and demand response have been siloed within utilities, with misaligned goals and barriers to transferring funds between programs,” says Brett Feldman, principal research analyst with Navigant Research. “Yet, the integration of DSM programs has become increasingly popular, especially in places such as California, where the combination of these programs has been used as a fundamental part of the state’s energy planning and strategy.”

North America is expected to be the largest region for IDSM spending, primarily centered in the United States, according to the report. This is expected to hold during the next decade, even as other regions eventually start to implement their own IDSM programs.

The report, Integrated Demand-Side Management, analyzes the global market for IDSM, with a focus on energy efficiency and DR programs. The study provides an analysis of the market issues, including drivers and barriers, associated with IDSM. Global market forecasts for spending, segmented by region, extend through 2025. The report also examines the history and evolution of DSM, as well as the common definitions of IDSM.
