The extent of pricing freedom for private commercial coal miners was likely to be spelled out by India’s Coal Ministry next month.
According to a government official, the Ministry would publish by March-end the ‘framework’ for opening up of coal mining sector to private miners for the first time since 1973, and was expected to give indications on the pricing methodology that private coal miners would need to follow.
