The South African Renewable Energy Council (Sarec) said claims made by the Coal Transportation Forum (CTF) as part of its reasons for holding a go-slow on Pretoria’s highways, on Wednesday morning, were factually incorrect. The truck drivers’ strike, which brought several highways to a standstill on Wednesday morning, was organised by the CTF to protest Eskom’s intentions of signing power purchase agreements with more independent power producers, which the CTF said would lead to possible job losses in the coal transportation sector.
