Stellar’s Baoulé Diamond Auction Raises $228,000‎

(IDEX Online News) – Western Africa-focused diamond development company Stellar Diamonds plc has announced that a recent auction of its Baoulé diamonds raised $228,000 in revenue at an average of $72.65 per carat.

The total revenue from the 100,000 ton bulk sample from Stellar’s 75-percent owned Baoulé kimberlite pipe in Guinea now stands at $1,228,000. The lower average price achieved was due to lower quality grade diamonds from the smaller Western lobe, and reflected the weaker rough diamond market.

However, better gem quality diamonds achieved strong prices, with two 5-carat diamonds achieving in excess of $3,500 per carat.
