In the face of an extreme wildfire hazard advisory issued by the Alberta department of Agriculture and Forestry for Canada’s oilsands capital Fort MCMurray, oil and gas major Suncor Energy announced late on Tuesday that it would lower regional output.
In confirming that operations located about 25 km north of Fort McMurray were operating at reduced rates, a company spokesperson stated to Mining Weekly Online that it was still too early to determine the impact on production.
