A Trump administration investigation into whether foreign-made steel imports pose a risk to US national security is nearly done, a senior US official said on Friday, ahead of the expected release of the probe’s findings late next week.

“It is nearing conclusion,” the US administration official told Reuters of the investigation, ordered by US President Donald Trump in April under the rarely used section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962.
