Marc Dos Santos was awarded a patent on November 14, 2017 for his invention, the DSI Adder Snake, which complements the DSI Sandwich belt high angle conveyor. DSI was founded mid-1997 with important support from son Marcus at age 17 who set up the first DSI website and created DSI brochures and flyers. The company was formally incorporated in 2007 when it also became a family business with daughter Amy Duncan joining as Marketing Manager. DSI developed the proprietary ExConTec program, a comprehensive power and tension analysis software reflecting a philosophy of expanded conveyor technology. ExConTec is the first to address and predict extra flexural and shear resistances along vertical and horizontal curves, utilizes rigid body dynamics for starting and stopping analysis, accounts for all belt line resistances through virtual material loads or load equivalents, and includes Engineer's Discretionary Factors for field testing results and design philosophy. The Paris tunneling project conveyors were designed with high degree of versatility including extendibility with all drive and take-up equipment at the head end and vertical portion as a hanging structure that can be extended for higher lifts at future applications.
