Eickhoff South Africa was established in 1983. The company’s primary business is the supply, maintenance, repair and rebuild of Eickhoff OEM Continuous Miners and Shearers in South Africa. Eickhoff South Africa also offers repair and maintenance services for Eickhoff OEM Industrial and Mining Gearboxes.

Eickhoff has developed a range of continuous miners to cover seam heights between 1.4 to 4.5 meters. The models are constructed from a set of standard components that allows interchangeability of most of the expensive subassemblies and conversion from one model into another to fit customer needs, ensuring optimized inventory and support.

Eickhoff supports all its products with parts, maintenance, repairs and training services. Service or Maintenance contracts can be specifically tailored to meet customer maintenance needs and budget. Eickhoff support services include 24 hour standby, parts delivery service from Wadeville premises and skilled staff to maintain, repair, troubleshoot and rebuild mining machines.

Eickhoff offers extensive training programs to customers and employees including safety, operator training, maintenance, repair, performance optimization, diagnostics and fault-finding, inventory, parts identification, preservation, transport and handling.

Engineering service staff devise service concepts for optimizing the availability of machines, using production data reporting or condition monitoring systems as preventative maintenance and early damage detection, including life cycle management and spare parts inventory consideration. On-site service is provided from commissioning through training and troubleshooting, as well as repairs on the surface of the mine. Repairs to component parts and complete machines are conducted at the Wadeville workshop, including periodic major overhauling.

Within the Eickhoff group, the foundry has extensive knowledge in metallurgy for quality high-grade castings. The gear manufacturing team is competent in gear component manufacturing including heat treatment and casting machining. The Eickhoff planetary gearboxes are designed according to a modular principle with high power density and compactness. Nominal output torque capacity ranges from 220,000 Nm to 7,280,000 Nm and can be increased on special request. All gear teeth are designed to be long-life fatigue resistant for stated nominal torques, with gears and shafts supported by amply dimensioned rolling bearings.
