Mixtec was founded in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1984 by Timothy Clamp and William Baguley, who had been in the agitator business since their earliest days with UK-based Kestner Industries, started in 1930. Mixtec manufactured and designed agitators and gearboxes until it became a standalone organization in 1984.
Today, Mixtec is one of the world’s premier manufacturers of industrial agitators and mixers. The Mixtec group currently has seven manufacturing plants worldwide with partners based in the United States, South Africa, Australia, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Chile and New Zealand. In addition to worldwide Mixtec branches, Mixtec also has agents who cater to markets in which it does not have a physical presence.
Every Mixtec office has its own research and development department as well as design, engineering and commissioning personnel trained to apply the latest fluid mixing technology for every application and installation. The different specialities of each Mixtec office allows quick access to a wealth of design experience and expertise, expanding overall knowledge base and enabling confident satisfaction of customer needs regardless of location. Mixtec has aligned itself with multiple commercial gearbox manufacturers to find the best-fit drive at the lowest cost for any application.
Mixtec prides itself on excelling in providing large scale heavy duty mixers and agitators, more often than not in batches of between 6 and 16 at a time. The mining industry has extensively benefited from Mixtec’s ability to refurbish and improve upon existing mixing systems, producing power savings and increasing the operational life of existing agitators through new impeller technology and engineering capabilities for manufacturing of agitator drives.
