Established in 2007, the Resources and Engineering Skills Alliance (RESA) is the primary skills and workforce development advisory agency for the mining and mining equipment and technology services (METS) sectors in South Australia, providing state representation in national forums and connecting with the best of Australian practice for the benefit of South Australians. RESA is a not-for-profit, independent organisation funded by the South Australian government Department for Energy and Mining.

RESA focuses on providing products and services that support government and industry to meet the workforce and organisational capability requirements of the mining and energy sectors. The approach involves consulting widely to understand priorities and challenges of the sector, collating industry priorities information and data and reporting it through channels with capability to develop support or provide solutions, recognising capability throughout the Australian and South Australian industry sector and initiating and supporting collaboration as required to deliver solutions to industry, developing recommendations for programs services and strategic solutions where gaps exist in existing capability, and delivering programs services and strategic solutions through targetted projects supported by industry and or government.

RESA’s priorities are skills and workforce, aboriginal economic participation, and regional capability. Regional capability reflects both the capability within business located in the regions and the capability of the workforce to meet demands of industry. The end goal in realising the potential opportunities of the resources and energy sectors is to deliver jobs and opportunities for residents in the regions of operations, local suppliers as suppliers of choice to industry, a sustainable thriving supply chain, potential for diversification and growth, and an inclusive supply chain and workforce.
