The Société de gestion des huiles usagées (SOGHU) manages a provincial recovery program for mechanical maintenance products in Quebec. The program targets used oils, coolants, filters, and plastic containers or aerosol cans of brake cleaner and oil-based lubricants. A network of accredited collectors is available to pick up these products from businesses. Products recovered through the program are valorized and given a second life.

In Quebec, companies that put oils, filters, or antifreeze on the market are legally required to comply with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). By joining an organization like SOGHU, these companies ensure their compliance, reduce their environmental impact, and participate actively in the circular economy. Through the work of SOGHU-accredited valorizers, recovered products are transformed into useful resources rather than discarded. Used oils are regenerated or used as industrial fuels, filters become metal structures, plastic containers are recycled into materials such as pipes, antifreeze is transformed for new use, and melted aerosols are used to produce new metal elements.
