Access is by either helicopter or float plane from Schefferville, QB (100 km NW) or Labrador City, NL (200 km SSE). The Churchill Falls-Esker road is 80 km to the south and would require a bridge to cross the Ashuanipi River to reach the area. This would give land access to the Trans Labrador Highway. The Tshiuetin railroad is 80 km to the east and would also require crossing the Ashuanipi River. Electrical power could be obtained from the Churchill Falls Powerhouse 170 km to the SE.

Copper mineralization is only exposed on a small 20 metre diameter island in the northeast end of Snelgrove Lake. Malachite and chalcocite mineralization was note on the island by R.J.Wardle. The site was sampled and analysed by the joint venture of Cornerstone Res. Ltd and Altius Minerals with an average copper value of 0.519% over six grab samples (0.239% to 0.768%). This is the only analysis of the showing found in the records. Strike potential to the east of the island has received very limited studied. Geological modelling of redbed copper mineralization for Snelgrove Island would suggest the grade could increase toward the Wade Lake Fault to the east. R.J.Wardle during government regional mapping noted three other locations of malachite staining in the Seward Sediments. The joint venture of Cornerstone Res. Ltd and Altius Minerals during regional sampling located several locations of chalcocite, bornite, covelite and malachite mineralization in the Seward Subgroup rocks.

The Snelgrove Island Showing lies near the contact of the clastic beds of the Seward Subgroup and the dolomite/shale beds of the Attikamagen Subgroup. The outcrops on the island are mapped as dolomitic quartzite, dolomitic breccia, quartzite and dolostone in past reports. The island is along the contact between to reducing Attikamagen and oxidizing Seaward sediments, just west of the fault contact of the Trough-Basement contact on R.J.Wardle’s map. The regional airborne magnetic surveys appears to agree with this placement.

Exploration in the Seward Sediments in the Snelgrove area is limited to regional mapping by Moss for Labrador Mining and Exploration in 1942, R.J.Wardle mapping for the Newfoundland and Labrador Government in the 1970's and a quick regional sampling program by a joint venture of Cornerstone Res. Ltd and Altius Minerals in 2008/9. The area has had several airborne surveys and regional lake sediment programs. The results only show regional trends and features with no copper anomalies.
