Summary
The Snelgrove Island Copper Showing is located in the Seward Sediments of Western Labrador part of the Aphebian Labrador Trough/New Quebec Orogeny. The Seward Subgroup represents the clastic sediments associated with rift opening. Redbed arkoses sediments dominate the Seward.
The Labrador Trough is very similar to the Aphebian Magondi Basin in Zimbabwe. The Lumigundi Group of the Magondi Basin contains the Maugura, Nora, Silverside, Alaska, Shackleton and Shamrocke Mines of the Zimbabwe Copper Belt which has produced over 100m tonnes of redbed copper ore.
