Jonesville Coal Project
Alaska Coal Project For Sale
NOT AVAILABLE
Summary
The Jonesville Coal Project incorporates the historic Evan Jones Coal Mine, which produced 5.5 Mt of high quality thermal coal between 1920 and 1968 from both underground and surface operations. The project is easily accessed year round by local roads from the paved Glenn Highway 2 miles away. There is a strong history of coal mining in the region.
The property hosts 130 MT of Measured, Indicated & Inferred JORC resources with the potential for expansion and near term development. The coal quality is high, with low sulfur and low moisture, but high BTU (10,000 to 13,000 BTU).
The property consists of two State leases for 1,450 acres. A current mining permit allows for the excavation of a boxcut together with trial underground mining to produce up to 17,000 tons of coal. This permit also allows for the reprocessing of tailings, which could provide near term cash flow.
The area has excellent road and rail access, connecting the project to two ports. Coal was exported from both of these during 2010.
