NexGold Mining Corp. has announced promising results from its extensive reverse circulation (RC) infill drill program at the Goldboro Gold Project in Nova Scotia. The latest drilling results, covering 3,591 meters from 85 RC drill holes, revealed notable gold concentrations, including 5.26 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold over 7.0 meters and 7.08 g/t of gold over 5.0 meters, with higher-grade sections of 31.29 g/t over 1.0 meter and 25.11 g/t over 1.0 meter, respectively. These results contribute significant data that may enhance the resource classification of the project.
Expansion and Objectives of the Goldboro Drill Program
Originally planned as a 30,000-meter initiative, NexGold has expanded its RC infill program to approximately 40,000 meters. This expansion aims to bolster the data density for the early years of the mine’s operational schedule. As of the company’s latest quarterly report, they have completed about 62% of the expanded program, indicating steady progress towards their targets.
The Goldboro project, which NexGold describes as 100%-owned and fully permitted, has received key approvals necessary for its development. In June 2025, the Government of Nova Scotia completed NexGold’s industrial approval request for a surface gold mine. Additionally, Fisheries and Oceans Canada has issued the necessary Fisheries Act authorizations, facilitating the project’s construction and future operations.
Comparison with Previous Results and Historical Data
The recent assay results build on previous positive findings from the Goldboro site. Earlier in the year, the project reported significant intercepts, such as 61.22 g/t gold over 12.0 meters and 12.06 g/t gold over 6.0 meters. These results underscore the consistent potential of the Goldboro project. Historically, the project’s resource estimates have been based on 681 surface and underground drill holes, totaling 121,540 meters of diamond drilling, which provided a strong foundation for the current RC program.
The encouraging drill results are expected to support future updates to the resource model, potentially upgrading the classification of resources and enhancing the economic feasibility of the Goldboro project. The focus on high-grade intercepts is particularly significant as it could lead to increased investor interest and improved project valuations.
Industry Impact and Future Prospects
The Goldboro project’s advancement comes at a time when the mining industry is increasingly focusing on efficient resource extraction and maximizing returns on investment. With the current gold market showing a stable demand, projects like Goldboro that demonstrate high-grade potential are particularly attractive to both investors and mining companies looking to expand their portfolios.
NexGold’s continued progress in Nova Scotia could set a precedent for other mining ventures in the region, highlighting the province’s potential as a significant gold production hub. The project’s full permitting status and recent approvals also reflect positively on the regulatory environment in Nova Scotia, potentially encouraging further investment in the region.
Looking ahead, NexGold plans to continue its infill drilling and resource evaluation, with the aim of commencing construction and production in the coming years. The company’s ability to deliver on its targets will be closely watched by industry stakeholders, as it could influence both regional mineral exploration strategies and broader market dynamics.
