The mine is located to the southeast of the Department of Boyacá, in the Municipality of Chivor Tenza Valley region in the Trails: La Esmeralda and La Esperanza in the Mining District Chivor, Colombia.

The mine has been family operated since 1970 it has very good access for transportation of minerals. The main port closer to the project is Buenaventura the largest Colombian port in the Pacific Ocean. There are no political or military problems in the area. The owners enjoy great relationships with all the authorities of the Department, There are water reservoirs in the zone and the access roads are extremely well-protected.

The Municipality of Chivor is located on rocky marine sequences. The municipality is located on a former marine platform where layers of sediment were deposited, most of which were clay, mud and sand from ancient continental masses located east and west of the current eastern cordillera.

Geologically the region of the reservoir is formed by marine and lacustrine sedimentary rocks of Cretaceous and Paleozoic age, with demonstrations of layering of an intrusive powerful and Tertiary age, potential source of hydrothermal solutions that mineralized discontinuities such as faults, joints and bedding planes or whether mineralization are due to hydrothermal fillings fracture zones.

The model for this part of the Eastern Cordillera is the result of the superposition of several regional events currently manifest in groups of inverse low-grade regional faults preferential direction N30 ° E.

A mineralized reef with polysulfide, direction N30 ° E, dip 60 ° - 80 ° NW, average thickness of 2 m and about 10 km in length is well identified, as well as mineralization associated with N60 ° E faults that intersect the main fault. Artisan farms (1970) manually chosen chalcopyrite outcrops of these mineralization reported average tenor of 18.99% Cu Amerex, mineral commercializing certificate.

Because tectonics in the area has played an important role in shaping and arrangement of lithological units present, it was necessary to make a detailed follow guidelines and fractures Landsat and geochemical study to more accurately assess potential sites copper mineralization present.

Fieldwork was conducted by surface geological methods such as the description of outcrops, study of lithology and structure of adjacent rocks, systematic sampling of each of the mineralization, conducting piques and trenches and running a regional geochemical survey of an area of 28 km2.

The copper surface manifestations of great economic and short-term exploitation possibilities are located in the license No. 10376, in the vicinity of the mouth of the river in the Guavio Rucio river village of La Esmeralda. These manifestations of copper are associated with clastic Formation shales of Macanal (kilm) sedimentary rocks.

The mineralization of interest correspond to a reservoir of metal polysulfides Philonian type, which is characterized by filling fractures originating from known faults (Trash failure and failure of the Emerald) and in some sectors following stratification. Predominant sulphides are pyrite and chalcopyrite with average tenor of 10% Cu between 800 and 900 m levels, with direction of N30 ° E, dip 60-80 and average thickness NW 2 m.

Much of the area of interest has a topography with steep ravines hosting second and third order, energetic in their beds.

We consider it important to note that:

• Mineralization of Cu, Mo, Au and Ag are presented in the project that merit further research.
• Studies show that this mineralization is associated with veins and fracture zones that have widely varying powers.
• The geological and sampling occurrences of Las Juntas, La Esperanza and Piedras Moradas observations and analyzes of fluvial sediments show that there are significant Cu anomalies in the study area, corresponding to the most obvious occurrence Boards, which extends 2,000 m to the northeast.
• Another interesting geochemical anomaly for Cu occurs in the creek El Rosario. In these areas there is the possibility of finding new veins or breccia with Cu interesting values.
