Pacific Ridge Exploration Ltd. (TSXV: PEX) has announced the continuation of its drilling operations at the RDP Copper-Gold Project in the Golden Horseshoe, British Columbia. This development marks a significant phase in the company’s 2025 exploration program, focusing on the Day target within the 10,000-hectare site. The RDP project is strategically located approximately 40 kilometers west of the Kliyul copper-gold project, offering promising exploration potential in the Toodoggone district.
Drilling Details and Historical Context
The 2025 drilling campaign at RDP is concentrated on the Day target, where previous exploration has yielded substantial results. The first drill hole of the current program, RDP-25-010, was drilled 40 meters southwest of a notable 2022 hole, RDP-22-005. This earlier effort recorded an intersection of 107.2 meters grading 1.39% CuEq (comprising 0.63% Cu, 1.10 g/t Au, and 2.91 g/t Ag) within a broader interval of 497.2 meters at 0.66% CuEq. These figures positioned it among the top porphyry copper-gold intervals reported in British Columbia at the time.
Pacific Ridge’s ongoing work also includes hole RDP-25-014, currently being drilled from the same pad as RDP-25-011, which had previously delivered 112.2 meters of 1.35% CuEq. These results underscore the potential of the Day target, which remains a focal point of Pacific Ridge’s exploration strategy as they aim to delineate the porphyry center between the eastern and western magnetic lobes.
Strategic Significance of the RDP Project
The RDP project is entirely owned by Pacific Ridge, and the company has been actively developing the site since its acquisition. The project’s location in the Stikine Terrane, a prolific mineral belt in north-central British Columbia, provides a compelling case for its exploration. Historical work at RDP has been sporadic since the 1970s, involving a combination of geological mapping, geochemical and geophysical surveys, trenching, and limited drilling, culminating in a comprehensive exploration framework.
A notable point in the project’s recent history was its option agreement with Antofagasta Minerals, spanning 2022 to 2024, which helped advance the exploration efforts. This partnership highlighted the RDP’s potential within the industry, drawing attention to its copper-gold prospects. However, as of the latest updates, no metallurgical testing has been conducted on the RDP mineralization, which remains a step for future consideration.
Looking Ahead: Next Steps for Pacific Ridge
In the coming months, Pacific Ridge plans to further refine its understanding of the RDP project’s geology through a high-resolution magnetic survey and magnetic vector inversion modeling, complemented by additional induced polarization surveys. These efforts aim to enhance the geological model and target drilling more precisely within the identified porphyry zones.
The company’s strategic focus on the RDP project reflects a broader trend in the mining industry towards exploring underdeveloped, yet highly prospective regions. As exploration progresses, the results from the 2025 drill program could provide greater clarity on RDP’s potential to contribute to British Columbia’s portfolio of productive mining assets. With its established foothold in the region and ongoing exploration efforts, Pacific Ridge is well-positioned to leverage any positive outcomes from its current and future drilling activities.
