Perpetua Resources Corp. (Nasdaq: PPTA / TSX: PPTA) has announced significant new mineral discoveries at its Stibnite Gold Project in Valley County, Idaho. The company reported the results of its first exploratory drilling in nearly a decade, revealing substantial high-grade gold, antimony, and tungsten mineralization. Among the notable findings were 21.3 meters grading 3.2 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 0.9% tungsten at the Yellow Pine area, as well as a promising new gold-tungsten zone.
New Discoveries and Drilling Insights
The recent drill program at Stibnite marks a pivotal moment for Perpetua Resources, as it resumes exploration activities in the historically rich mining district. The company reported that drilling between the Yellow Pine and West End reserve pits uncovered multiple high-grade gold intervals and a new zone of gold-tungsten mineralization. Hole SB597, drilled at the Yellow Pine/Clark Tunnel Fault Zone, returned 21.3 meters of 3.2 g/t gold and 0.9% tungsten from a depth of 24 meters, including a more concentrated segment of 7.0 meters at 7.1 g/t gold and 0.3% tungsten from 34 meters.
Additional results from Hole SB580 at Yellow Pine revealed 6.4 meters of 16.2 g/t gold and 1.7% antimony from the surface. Furthermore, the Hangar Flats area contributed to the promising results with intercepts of 3.0 meters at 14.5 g/t gold. These findings underscore the potential of the Stibnite project, which has been a focal point for Perpetua’s exploration and development efforts.
Significance of Stibnite’s Resources
The Stibnite Gold Project, held through wholly owned subsidiaries of Perpetua Resources, is situated in the abandoned Stibnite Mining District of central Idaho. The project is unique in the United States for containing the only identified domestic reserve of antimony, a critical mineral in defense and technology sectors. According to the current project plan, Stibnite holds approximately 148 million pounds of antimony reserves and about 4.8 million ounces of gold reserves.
Historical exploration between 2010 and 2015 had already identified a core “bulls-eye” of anomalous antimony, and a 2021 company presentation cited 206 million pounds of antimony resource and 6.0 million ounces of gold in measured and indicated resources. The recent discoveries enhance these figures, adding to the 3.1 million ounces of indicated and inferred gold resources and 99.8 million pounds of antimony resources outside the current reserves.
Development and Future Outlook
Perpetua Resources has made significant strides in advancing the Stibnite project towards production. The U.S. Forest Service issued a Final Record of Decision in January 2025, facilitating further development. The company has initiated construction activities, with plans to commence antimony sulfide production by late 2028. The project is expected to produce about 115 million pounds of antimony over its lifespan, potentially meeting 35% of U.S. demand for the mineral in its first six years of operation.
The recent exploratory success at Stibnite not only bolsters Perpetua’s resource base but also strengthens its position as a key player in domestic antimony production. As the company continues its development, the new discoveries could attract further interest from investors and stakeholders focused on critical minerals and sustainable mining practices.
Looking ahead, the continued exploration and successful development of the Stibnite project may significantly impact the U.S. mineral supply chain, particularly in enhancing the availability of antimony. With the global demand for critical minerals on the rise, Perpetua Resources appears well-positioned to contribute to both national and international markets in the coming years.
