DEPARTMENT:  EQUITY RESEARCH

LOCATION:        Toronto, ON

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the senior base metals Mining research analyst
  • Develop an expertise in the mining sector
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of company-specific financial models
  • Assist in base metal, bulk commodity and minor metal commodity price forecasting
  • Coordinate, develop, generate and maintain Mining research reports, presentations and databases with staff in our Toronto, London and Sydney offices
  • Participate in and assist with morning comments for the daily Global Mining morning meeting and the daily Research, Sales and Trading meeting
  • Coordinate and attend conference calls and meetings with corporate management
  • Help coordinate quarterly and year end reporting initiatives
  • Assist with special ad-hoc projects, presentations and initiatives as assigned·
  • Support and answer client queries as they relate to the sector

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Financial model, industry databse and research product quality control
  • Ability to anticipate and deliver
  • Develop an expertise in the mining sector
  • Regular delivery of macro databases and research on a daily, monthly and quarterly basis.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An Engineering, Mining or geology background would be an asset
  • An MBA in finance would be an asset
  • Completion of, or enrolment in, the CFA program and a knowledge of finance/accounting are an advantage
  • Strong PC skills, specifically Excel, with ability to quickly learn new platforms and source data from the internet and various mining publications
  • Detail oriented with solid analytical skills and ability to synthesize data points into trends beyond the mainstream
  • Energetic & self-motivated – Ability to perform under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time
  • Superior customer service focus and attitude for internal and external clients
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work and coordinate effectively within a team environment
