Wet weather has resulted in Australian gold production falling during the March quarter, mining consultant Subriton Associates has reported.
The country’s gold mines produced 71.5 t in the quarter, which is 6 t, or 8%, less than the 77.5 t produced in the December quarter. Nevertheless, gold production for the quarter was similar to output in the March quarter 2016.
