Position Description:
Barrick is looking for a Senior Mine Geologist to join the Goldstrike Open Pit Mine Geology team. The position reports to the Open Pit Geology Superintendent.
Responsibilities:
Collection and interpretation of geologic data from blast holes, trenching, mapping and face sampling.
Generation of pit and bench geologic maps from collected mapping and logging data.
Design and justification for advanced grade control drill programs other than blast-hole drilling.
Oversight of infill and near-pit drilling programs to expand and better define open pit reserves.
Sampling, QAQC, logistics, sample dispatch and tracking related to drilling.
Reverse Circulation (RC) chip and diamond core logging.
Review and interpretation of RC and diamond core assay and logging data.
Generation and maintenance of plans and sections based on mapping, sampling and drill data.
Generation of 3D geological models bringing together all data from plans and sections.
Ore and waste rock characterization.
Density determination sampling, test work and modeling.
Initiation and coordination of geo-metallurgical studies, test work, modeling and reporting.
Daily, weekly and monthly verbal and written reports.
Effective communication and dissemination of information to Operations personnel, Engineers, Metallurgists and Geologists.
Supervision and development of Mine Geologists, Interns and Summer Students.
Other duties as assigned

Barrick Nevada is an integrated gold mining operation that combines the Cortez and Goldstrike properties in Nevada, employing a total of 3,000 employees and 800 contractors. The operation utilizes both open pit and underground mining methods with Autoclave and Roaster processing facilities at Goldstrike and Milling/Heap Leaching facilities at Cortez.
