Located 90 minutes west of Denver near the town of Fairplay, Colorado with County-maintained roads.

Placer gold deposits are held in the glacial moraines and outwash aprons leftover from the Pleistocene age. Gold was most likely deposited near the end of the Pleistocene age during the Wisconsin glaciation period beginning around 75,000 years ago. The South Platte glacier deposits found in the South Platte Valley, were likely removed from crystalline quartz veins in the Mosquito Range where the mine is located. The largest gold nugget found in Colorado "Tom's Baby", was unearthed in the Mosquito Range weighing an incredible 156 troy ounces.

Historical placer mining in the valley was first exploited by the means of extensive opencut, hydraulic, and bucket-line dredging begging around 1859. The first miners were quick to exploit the easy gold found on the surface near streams and in creek beds. Evidence of their work is found immediately Southeast of the property on the historical dredging piles. Old timers were quick to pass on the vast gold deposits located under ares where overburden would require time and money to reach the pay-streak. The property for sale was passed over by these early miners and is currently producing commercially viable amounts of gold, aggregates, and boulders.
