Located in Powell County, Montana up a limited 4WD road.

The mine is developed by a 1000' drift. From this point, ore was shipped down the hill to the Golden Anchor Mill near the base of the valley. This was done by a tram system which is no longer in place. A 300' shaft at the top of the hill connects to the main drift. First hand accounts from miners in 1983-84 reported 5000-5500' of development on the main level and two (2) stopes at least 600' x 100'. The shafts had not been usable since at least 1957 due to collapses. The mine was mothballed in 1983 due to low gold prices. In 1985 the mine flooded and the owners did not repair the main tunnel. Instead, they took material to the top of the hill to a chunk of private land where remaining ore was crushed and leeched. There is a gravity mill on site that was used for processing gold. This indicated by the presence of crushers and shakers with no chemical vats. This mill is mentioned in USGS reports as operating many years before the Golden Anchor Mill was built. This mine is suitable for small miners and developers. It can be opened and worked with minimal permitting and cost. Surface dump material outside of the portal, at the head of the tram, was gathered and assays returned 0.79 oz./T AU and 0.24 oz./AG. A small dump (less than two tons) of high grade material returned assays of 1.66 oz./T AU. The main drift adit has been closed since at least 1986. There is some water seepage from the portal in spring which usually dries up by July/August. There are good roads to the portal which would support delivery of heavy equipment. This should be considered a high value deposit and the site could be expanded as drilling and exploration define the lengths of the ore body. There is no private property to cross to access the site. There is a gate on the road that restricts access. A formal exploration permit will be required to access the gate and bring vehicles to the site.
