Description:
  • Ensure the underground mine operates according to company, federal, provincial and municipal standards.
  • Directly supervise the Mine Superintendent and oversee the management of Mine General Foreman, front line supervision and fills in for the General Manager as required.
  • Participate in strategic planning at the senior management level. Develop and meet overall safety, production and cost targets.
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams in setting the direction and establishing the mid to long term mine plans.
  • Responsible for cost management, reviews and take action of overruns on a monthly basis, for generating realistic budgets and operating plans and achieving both.
  • Optimize operational assets and resources through continuous improvement. Responsible for mine automation and innovation.
  • Initiate, develop and implement mine policies and procedures as well as comply with all Company policies, procedures and standards.
  • Responsible for developing, monitoring and improving the safety performance of all employees.

Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of underground mining methods, blasting, ventilation and mine services.

Qualifications:

University degree or post-secondary diploma in a technical mining related discipline with a minimum of 10-15 years of underground mine operations experience, 5 of which at a supervisory and or management level.

Previous experience in underground mining at a supervisory or management level or supervisory experience in technical services area with a strong desire to move into a senior operational role to further career development will be considered.
