WASHINGTON & PITTSBURGH–(BUSINESS WIRE)–As part of the White House Water Summit held today in conjunction with the United Nations World Water Day, Evoqua Water Technologies announced it will double the amount of water it treats for reuse and reclamation to 5 billion gallons of water a day by 2021, or enough to serve 50 million Americans a day at current consumption rates.
The commitment was made today as part of Evoqua’s participation in the White House Water Summit. Evoqua’s membrane filtration and other leading technologies currently treat more than 2.5 billion gallons of water per day for water reuse and reclamation, helping to reduce the demand on potable water sources. Evoqua’s commitment will further reduce the demands on potable water sources.
Evoqua will expand development and adoption of its technologies – including its new Nexed™ electrochemical desalination modules and other filtration technologies in its portfolio – to double the amount of water it helps treat for reuse and reclamation by 2021.
“Evoqua’s purpose – ‘We Transform Water and Enrich Lives’ – is really what the White House Water Summit is all about,” said Evoqua CEO Ron Keating. “Our commitment to double the amount of water we will help treat as part of reuse and reclamation efforts across the U.S. is an ambitious, but worthy, goal. And one that we gladly accept.
“Our approximately 4,000 employees are working each day to improve the world’s water through expanded use of our leading technologies that help municipalities and industrial customers protect and improve the world’s most fundamental natural resource,” added Keating.
At the White House Summit, Evoqua also committed to invest at least $50 million over the next five years to develop and bring to market new technologies such as its Nexed electrochemical desalination modules to treat and improve our nation’s drinking water, and expand water reuse and reclamation efforts across municipal and industrial applications.
Evoqua was invited to the White House Water Roundtable in December 2015, the predecessor event to the White House Water Summit, to discuss its patented Nexed modules, which provides a variety of features that can reduce energy costs by as much as 30 percent with the potential for even more. The new technology can also help lower costs and facility footprint.
In addition, Evoqua also will donate 10 SkyHydrant™ water-filtration units utilizing its Memcor® ultrafiltration membrane modules for emergency and disaster relief efforts and to help meet water needs of underserved communities in the United States.
