Angola’s newest diamond mining operation, the Tcheji Mining Company, had its operation formally inaugurated on April 4. The project involved an initial investment of some $15-million and the mine has an initial production capacity of 3 000 carats a month. However, with the completion of a new treatment plant, scheduled for the middle of next month, this should increase to 6 000 carats/month. The mine is expected to accrue gross revenues of $1.5-million/month.
