Summary
This 20 acre Lode Claim, "The Golden Mammoth", is a superb Claim, with a number of Mines that include, Adits, Shafts etc., with a plethora of Pilings and Tailings to work. The entire Claims length pretty much has workings and Tailings. There appears to be past high grade Ore cuts that are shallow, with easy access. There is suppose to be a few mines that total around 1600 feet of workings in them or so, but some are blocked off and would require work to reopen, as you can see, but this could be accomplished with the possibility of a shovel and crowbar. Note the Old Timber workings on this Claim

Access:
This Claim is set back about a mile in off of 266, a few miles from Lida Nevada, on a decent off road as you can see in the pictures, leading fairly close to the claim, You can either walk across some Federal land to access the Claim, after you drive in, and get close, or follow the road on foot or an ATV, as there was a small section that was washed away, that would make a normal Vehicle, unable to pass to bring you right onto the Claim, without repair, but an ATV, or your feet, will do the trick, as it is not far to walk, perhaps a few hundred
Accommodations:
You can camp on the Claim, or you have hotel and motels with Convenience stores in either Beatty Nevada or Independence California both of which are about a 1/2 hour or so away.
Description
There are a generous amount of Tailings left to work, which in most of these older mines normally, could yield around 7 ounces to a ton of Gold and Silver in that amount. Check out the color in the pictures. There are also excellent run offs and wash areas, that could prove successful.
For the recreational miner, you could work this for weeks, and not even come close to touching it. You will note through out the Claim the Quartz Rock, there is gold, copper, and some silver. This area is loaded with past producing mines like this one, that date back to the late 1800s. The District is a real note in our Mining History. This Claim was obviously very active, it appears from what we could find, was mined in the early 20th Century, around the time of the Lida era of mining, and then again before the late 60's. There is note of mining activity in the area, of course predating the 20's, as far back as the early 1800's, but we could not locate anything specific on this Claim, as is the case with many Claims, as accurate records and constant changes in records, make it difficult, if not impossible, to get the true origins on many of the older mines. There are many Historic Claims, deemed so by the USGS in in the area and district. This type of Lode Claim, does not come around very often. There was, just so much activity at this site, this is one that could turn into a great investment for someone looking to work a Claim, or years of enjoyment for someone to causally work/Mine. Check the pictures to see how the activity pretty much stretches through out the Claim.
