Location and Access

The Barrington Gold Mine is located approximately 40km west-southwest of Telegraph Creek, in northwest British Columbia. The placer claims that constitute the Barrington Gold Mine cover a portion the Barrington River valley where the valley broadens downstream of a steep canyon.

To access the Barrington Gold Mine from Dease Lake, B.C., follow Highway 51 west from Dease Lake to Glenora for 125km, then turn west onto Iron Road (a mine road) and follow for 30km.

There is no permafrost at the Barrington Gold Mine, and weather conditions have historically allowed for 150 to 180 day mining seasons.

Description

The Barrington Gold Mine is a placer gold mining operation on the Barrington River in northwest British Columbia, that has been operated off and on since the 1920’s.

History

Miners and prospectors have been active at and around the Barrington Gold Mine off and on since the early 1900’s. The activity to date has focused primarily on the inside of the first bend downstream of a canyon located at the north end of the Barrington Gold Mine (the “First Bend”) – see the Plan Map below.

In the late 1980’s to the early 1990’s, the Barrington Gold Mine was actively explored and mined by Edmonton based Integrated Resources Ltd.

From the late 1990’s to 2013, the Barrington Gold Mine was actively mined by a small family operator.

Aurek began mining at the Barrington Gold Mine at the end of the 2013 mining season; and continued mining during the 2014 mining season, from July to October.

During the 2014 mining season, Aurek, and third parties visiting the project, collected wide spaced qualitative panning tests across much of the Barrington Gold Mine. The results reportedly showed encouraging colours across large areas, with one pan showing more than 50 colours (with a combined estimated weight of approximately 20 mg) that was collected from the inside of the second bend downstream of the canyon at the north end of the project.

During the 2014 mining season, Aurek completed qualitative trench and pit testing on the third and lower bends downstream of the canyon at the north end of the project. Directed by the results of this testing, Aurek completed a bulk test on the third bend during October 2014, washing approximately 3,260 yards, yielding approximately 26.1 ounces of fine gold.

Aurek’s production records show that during the 2014 mining season Aurek washed approximately 18,570 cubic yards of material, yielding approximately 123 ounces of fine gold (these figures include the October bulk test).
