OVERVIEW:

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Underground Planning Engineer for their regional team. The Senior Underground Planning Engineer will be responsible for economic analysis, mine design, development planning, stope optimization, short and long-range planning, ventilation, rock mechanics and other underground requirements for our client’s assets.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide engineering support to all regional underground mines and projects.
  • Complete underground optimizations and mine designs.
  • Development and implementation of planning schedules, cost estimates, and evaluations of all projects.
  • Contribute to annual budget and life of mine plans of all operations in the region.
  • Complete studies and supporting documentation from screening to feasibility level.
  • Liaison with site management and technical staff including UG inspections as necessary.
  • Manage contractors, consultants and vendors.
  • Plan, budget, communicate, and coordinate to meet established goals in a safe and efficient manner.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • B. S. Degree in Mining Engineering.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in hard rock underground planning on producing mines, including in narrow vein deposits.
  • Record of increasingly responsible roles in production environments
  • Project experience is a necessity.
  • Proficient use of relevant technical applications; not limited to Vulcan,
  • Deswick Scheduler, AutoCAD and MSProject.
  • Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate leadership.
  • Underground survey experience would be preferred
  • Ability to travel to sites and work outside in varied weather conditions when necessary.
  • An appreciation for geology and ore control preferred
