Position Description:
In collaboration with the regional Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility teams, the successful candidate will 1) ensure Barrick’s Turquoise Ridge mine site’s communication strategies, policies and standardized systems and processes are used to effectively deliver information to employees, their families and the community and 2) participate in and ensure active involvement in activities within the community that positively promote Turquoise Ridge.
Responsibilities:
- Developing internal communications strategies, programs and content using resources across the departments to measurably improve team member understanding and commitment to strategic objectives and help staff understand and engage in the mission and vision of the Turquoise Ridge mine.
- Collecting information and documentation required to generate communication content
- Writing and producing media content to align the messages with the image and reputation that the business wants to project
- Champion campaigns and internal communication and community relations projects for Turquoise Ridge mine
- Implementing community outreach programs, organizing events, coordinating volunteers that will promote the site’s mission
- Developing, monitoring and managing e-media content to ensure effectiveness of messaging
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field and/or a minimum of three (3) years of communication or related experience required
- Communications experience in the mining sector or industrial company preferred
- Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point) proficiency required
- Adobe creative suite or similar design platform experience required
- Experience leading audiovisual and photographic documentation of editorial and strategic contents preferred
- Communicate effectively in both written and oral forms; strong writing skills including copywriting and editing skills required
- Knowledge of AP style guidelines
- Strong knowledge and understanding of current communication trends, including digital media/social media
- Prioritizing and managing complex projects and confidential data required
- A creative thinker with a desire, willingness and ability to execute engaging communication programs or initiatives required
- Ability to work varied shifts, including weekends, to cover site and community events required
