Barrick (Niugini) Limited (BNL) is a company incorporated in Papua New Guinea, and operates the Porgera Gold Mine in Enga Province on behalf of the Porgera Joint Venture partners. BNL is an independently managed company and is jointly owned through an equal partnership between Barrick Gold and Zijin Mining Group. The Porgera Gold Mine employs over 2,500 Papua New Guineans, and over the life of the mine it has contributed approximately 10% of Papua New Guinea’s total annual exports.

Position Objective
We seek to recruit a Senior Process Control Engineer reporting to the Instrumentation and Control Superintendent who will be responsible for the programming and maintenance of process control and automation systems, by the application and monitoring of maintenance systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Implementing and providing support to meet agreed service delivery levels in process control system design, integration, programming, commissioning and maintenance of the following areas; Processing Plant, Power Generation facilities, Underground and Site Services.
Monitoring the maintenance systems and performance measures and formulate alternatives and improvements to systems and methods.
Assisting the Instrumentation and Control Superintendent with implementation of change management initiatives and other business improvement projects.
Developing work plans for the Process Control team, to assist in allocation of responsibilities and reviewing the progress against these plans continually.
Continually review the various process control strategies and determine refinements required based on performance measures.
Conduct costing analysis and develop project proposals.
Implementation of technologies and hardware.
Programming and configuration of the DCS, PLC, SCADA & Expert programs as necessitated by the plant modifications.
Assisting the Process Control Engineers and Instrumentation Technicians with technical advice and complex fault-finding and diagnosis.
To be suitable for this role, you will possess the following:
Tertiary qualifications in either Instrumentation or Control Systems Engineering
Minimum 5 years’ experience leading a team in providing process control systems programming and maintenance in minerals processing or refining.
Contractor management and proven experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS, Schneider and Allen Bradley PLC and iFix-SCADA control systems.
Previous experience working in PNG or other developing countries, desirable
Proven experience in a supervisory role in relative technical area.
Certificate IV Training and Assessment (preferable).
The ability and willingness to train and develop national employees;
Current Drivers Licence.
Your primary location will be the Porgera Mine Site. An on-travel allowance will be provided to candidates who reside outside of Cairns, Australia. Alternatively the Company will provide assistance as per BNL Relocation Policy to relocate the successful candidate to Cairns, Australia if the candidate holds a current visa to reside in Australia. The roster for this role is a fly in, fly out rotation on 16 days on, 12 days off.
