Position Description:
Barrick is looking for a Geologic Technician to join the Geology team.
Responsibilities:
Assist with providing supervision, oversight, and line-out of staff and/or contract Geotechnicians.
Train incoming geologic technician staff.
Daily inspection of the core shed.
Daily inspection of the truck and forklift.
Drive to drill and surface sites and pick up any sample material that has been sampled since the last pickup.
Determine drilling, field, and safety supply needs, such as core boxes, sample bags, hammers, flagging, cones, signs, etc., and restock as needed.
Unload drill sample material at core facility and store in an organized manner for future access.
Wash and photograph all core.
Organize photographic and other digital data.
Split/cut core using rock saw and sample.
Label sample bags and prepare chip trays for RC drilling.
Record, validate, and reconcile sample submission and receipt.
Receive, store, sort, retrieve, and composite various sample types.
Other duties as required and assigned by supervising geologist.
Data entry.
Assist in the development of organizational, housekeeping, maintenance, procedural, and other SOPs as needed, in order to ensure and maintain quality of work and work efficiency.
Under the guidance and supervision of the Core Shed Supervisor, line-out the daily activities of Geotechnicians.
Daily liaison with appropriate Barrick staff (geologists, Drilling Services staff, drilling companies, other Barrick staff as necessary.
Conduct and lead daily and scheduled formal audits and inspections of workplaces for Environmental Health and Safety compliance inclusive of core sheds core yard, drill sites, and offices.

Barrick Nevada is an integrated gold mining operation that combines the Cortez and Goldstrike properties in Nevada, employing a total of 3,000 employees and 800 contractors. The operation utilizes both open pit and underground mining methods with Autoclave and Roaster processing facilities at Goldstrike and Milling/Heap Leaching facilities at Cortez.
