Description:

Responsibilities include: The successful candidate will: oversee and coordinate closure site planning and execution for Barrick’s mine closure sites in British Columbia (Eskay Creek, Nickel Plate, Snip and Giant Nickel) through capital allocation, utilizing best management practices and leveraging synergies; monitor compliance with the Barrick’s Policies, Standards and Procedures to ensure compliance with all legal and other obligations; represent Barrick in front of communities, regulators and other stakeholders; manage a diverse team of professional and non-professional staff, and implement programs directed towards the advancement and success of staff; perform other duties as assigned. Position is based at the Nickel Plate Mine.

  • LOM/ARO Plans, Forecasts, & Budgets
  • Water Management (at Nickel Plate)

  • Community and Government Relations

SELECTION CRITERIA

 

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:  To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:

    •  Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering, Geology or related technical field required

 

  • BC registered Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist preferre
  • Ten (10) to fifteen (15) years of directly related experience, preferably in a mining environment required

 

  • Previous supervisory experience  required
  • Exemplary leadership and change management skills required
  • Strong formal Project Management skills required
  • Demonstrated success in working professionally with varied and diverse regulatory agencies and stakeholders required
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and able to work in a team environment required
  • Computer literacy and application capability required
  • Experience with building and managing water treatment systems preferred
  • Proven record of environmental compliance with appropriate closure/remediation experience preferred
