Position Description:
Barrick is looking for a Minex Project Geologist to join the Geology Team at Turquoise Ridge Mine.
Responsibilities:
-
Field exploration will include mapping, sampling and conducting surveys on district targets
-
Logging drill core an RC, generation of drill plans, and communication with Drill Services
-
Technical review of geology using ioGas, Leapfrog, and WellCad.
-
Financial Evaluation of projects to accompany the annual budgeting process
-
Supervision of Minex and contract geologists & summer interns
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor of Science in Geology, Geological Engineering or related field
-
Familiarity with geological modeling and interpretation software (Leapfrog, Vulcan, Acquire, ioGas, WellCad)
-
Familiarity with Carlin-type gold deposits
-
Experienced in Field exploration and RC & Core logging, practiced in basic mineral exploration
-
Computer: download and collection of data, proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
-
Ability to conduct field work (steep grades, rugged terrain, carry heavy samples) in a safe manner
-
Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) compliance
-
Valid drivers license
-
Proven track record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture
-
Able to drive manual transmission mine tractor and a transport van on freeway
-
Able to walk significant grades underground and lift 50 lbs if needed
-
Ability to work with minimal supervision
