Position : Mining Engineer
Location : Jabal Sayid, Medina Province, Saudi Arabia
Responsible for :
Safety: Comply with all legal obligations, safety policies and procedures. Creating and maintaining a safe work environment on the project site – ensure that all Company health, safety & security procedures and policies are being followed by staff and contractors throughout the discovery process. Practice courageous leadership at all times. Ensure all operations are conducted with regard to the use of safe work practices and proper PPE. Ensure all safety incidents are fully reported. Recognise and report all hazards at the project site. Ensure Company environmental standards are met and adhered.
Administration: Prepare contract documentation (e.g. mining, services) for approval by the Mining Manager. Prepare required, daily, weekly and monthly project Management reports. Prepare short-term project schedules and track progress on a weekly or monthly reporting cycle. Update planning team on design changes to fit the purpose, update plans as new data requires and revise production and development schedules and the associated mine performance forecasts. Ensure all production is reconciled against budget/forecast.
Technical: Coordinate the construction or placement of mine services (ramps and roadways, bunds, ventilation, ground control, power, water, communications, work areas, personnel facilities) to support other mine activities. Prepare short-term production and development schedules and maintain current and accurate mine plans in accordance with up-to-date data on the ore reserve from geology and the mine from survey. Ensure approval of drill and blast designs and activities. Update planning team on design changes to fit the purpose, update plans as new data requires and revise production and development schedules and the associated mine performance forecasts.
Qualifications:
Essential:
Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering
A recognised first aid certificate
Desirable:
Hold a WA First Class Managers Certificate of Competency (or be eligible to obtain one).
Experience:
Essential:
+7 years post graduate experience in underground hard rock mining operation
Extensive experience in short, medium and long project management in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine
Extensive experience in budgeting and forecasting
Experience in mine services requirements and reticulation, pipes, sumps, cross sections calculation for sizes and flow distribution.
Backfilling systems – preferably CRF and Paste Fill
Advance skills with mine design software, preferably Mine 24D.
Advance skills with mine scheduler software preferably EPS
Advanced skills in excel, power point, word, MS Outlook and database applications
Desirable:
International experience
Working with Mining Contractor Companies
Mine rescue.
Requirements:
Essential:
Competent in English (spoken / written).
Good communication skills – ability to successfully develop effective working relationships.
High attention to detail – can analyse information and identify errors and gaps
Sound knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to mining.
Sound and systematic planning and time management skills.
Multitasking, proactive and work well under pressure or deadlines.
Desirable:
Knowledge of Arabic
