Description:

Production/Scheduling:

  • Coordinate the (prior/post) construction or placement of mine services (ramps and roadways, bunds, ventilation, ground control, power, water, communications, work areas, personnel facilities) to support other mine activities.
  • Prepare short-term production and development schedules and maintain current and accurate mine plans in accordance with up-to-date data on the ore reserve from geology and the mine from survey.
  • Ensure approval of drill and blast designs and activities. Update planning team on design changes to fit the purpose, update plans as new data requires and revise production and development schedules and the associated mine performance forecasts.

 

Compliance:

  • Assess and refer recommendations regarding all non-standard contract claims to the Underground Mining Manager.
  • Reduce stope dilution through improved development practices, stope design and drill and blast methods.
  • Ensure timely mining engineering advice is available to solve technical problems in the mine.
  • Ensure all production is reconciled against budget/forecast. Undertake stope performance assessments for each stope and back analyse to ensure an optimal standard of support is maintained.
  • Ensure all production work carried out as per the HSE guidelines.

 

Administration:

  • Participate in contract documentation preparation (e.g. mining, services) for approval by the Underground Mining Superintendent and Mining Manager.
  • Administer mining or project related contracts in the mine, verifying all progress claims against the scope and schedule.
  • Prepare required, daily, weekly and monthly production Management reports
  • Liaise with T&D supervisor in Saudi employee development.

 

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering
  • A recognised first aid certificate
  • Member of Internationally recognized professional association
  • Underground Supervision
  • Surface and Underground Infrastructure experience
  • Drill and blast certificate

 

Experience:

Essential: (Minimum Requrements)

  • +5 years post graduate experience in underground hard rock mining operation and mining contractor work
  • +3 years’ experience as cost control engineer and budget preparation
  • Underground production experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine
  • Mining technology and heavy production equipment experience
  • Long hole open stope, cut & fill mining methods
  • Ventilation and mine dewatering
  • Time studies and improvement of KPI’s for underground activities and tasks
  • Backfilling – preferably CAF/CRF and Cemented Paste Fill
  • Drafting, engineering design and calculations
  • Experience with mine design software, preferably Mine 24D
  • Good spreadsheet, presentation applications, word processing and database applications skills.
  • Good understating of first principle costing
  • Competent in mine planning.

 

Desirable:

  • International experience
  • Working with Mining Contractor Companies
  • Mine rescue qualified

 

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Fluent in English (spoken / written)
  • Communication – can relate to all employees, managers and consultants and develop/maintain sound working relationships
  • Initiative – can identify problems and proactively resolve them
  • High attention to detail – can analyse information and identify errors and gaps
  • Sound knowledge of statutory safety requirements relevant to mining.
  • Computer skill with mine and ore body modelling and planning software (Mine 24D, Surpac)
  • Sound and systematic planning, mine design and cost control skills.
  • Knowledge of contemporary technology applied to mining methods and ore extraction

 

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Arabic
  • Understanding of the diversities of various nationalities and the variances of each.
