Position Description:
Barrick is looking for an Open Pit Mine Engineer to join the Open Pit Engineering group at Cortez. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing, managing, prioritizing and optimizing short and long-term planning activities.
Responsibilities:
- Ore control, short, mid and long-range planning, drill and blast design, dump and leach planning and other projects associated with a progressive mining environment.
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with geology, operations, maintenance, process and exploration in the planning of current and future mining activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field required
- One (1) year experience in open pit mining engineering preferred
- Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership required
- Experience using Vulcan, Qpit, Whittle, AutoCAD, Xeras, and Microsoft Office Suite preferred
- Team leader, problem solver and excellent oral and written communications skills required
- Ability to work outside in varied weather conditions for extended periods at a time required
- Ability to cross-train within the mining engineering group required
