Position Description:

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Sample dispatch, subsequent return, validation and estimation of grade control assay outcomes.

  • Geological input into blast pattern designs to achieve minimal dilution of ore.

  • Timely and practical design and mark-out of ore blocks.

  • Incorporation of grade control data into models using 3D mine planning and visualization software.

  • Maintenance of up-to-date, validated and well-organized data within the grade control database.

  • Maintenance of stringent QAQC over all grade control processes, data and outputs.

  • Daily interface with cross-departmental stakeholders involved in the mine to mill process.

  • Completion of end-of-month mining, forecast and stockpile reports.

  • Ensures all record keeping and reporting is SOX compliant.

  • Monthly reconciliation between ore reserve, grade control, actual mined and declared ore mined.

  • Supervision and development of Grade Control Geologists, Interns and Summer Students.

  • Promotes and adheres to a strong safety culture.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or equivalent – required.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Grade Control geology – required.
  • Ability to work within a team and to be a team player – required.

  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills – required

  • Demonstrated leadership abilities – required.

  • Demonstrated computer skills – required.
  • Experience with preferably with AcQuire or Access database system, ArcGIS, AutoCad, Vulcan, and Leapfrog software or equivalent – required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and in an environmentally responsible manner – required.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to adapt to changing priorities – required.

Barrick Nevada is an integrated gold mining operation that combines the Goldstrike and Cortez properties in Nevada, employing a total of 3,000 employees and 800 contractors. The operation utilizes both open pit and underground mining methods with Autoclave and Roaster processing facilities at Goldstrike and Milling/Heap Leaching facilities at Cortez.
