Williams Operating Corporation, Barrick Gold, located near Marathon, Ontario is looking for a Safety, Health and Training General Foreman overseeing the Safety Health and training performance for the Williams Mine.  This position provides health and safety leadership to the site operations including management, supervision, employees and contractors.  The position is responsible for several direct reports and reports directly to the Safety Health and Security Superintendent.  

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Your accurate record keeping, attention to detail and ability to multitask, along with your capacity to establish effective working relationships, while working autonomously, is crucial to your success in this role.

  • Provide advice to all site personnel and employees, ensuring each Safety systems are executed effectively and diligently

  • Take over responsibilities of the Safety Superintendent as required

  • Participate and facilitate in incident investigations and risk management sessions, implementing and monitoring of initiatives and programs and adherence to statutory obligations.

  • Provide technical support and functional leadership to site departments and personal in areas related to safety and health

  • Provide guidance and recommendation to contractor safety initiatives

  • Guide and mentor Safety and Training Coordinators

  • Manage and Maintain site and corporate Safety Reporting requirements

  • Daily interaction with workforce to promote a strong safety culture

  • Coach all employees on the different safety systems that are used on site

  • Conduct and coordinate regular safety inspections and audits as required;

 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience in underground or surface mining operations and a strong understanding of Ontario Mining legislation (recommended)
  • 5+ years of supervisor experience
  • 5+ years of safety related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • CRSP designation (recommended)
  • Strong demonstrated skills in incident investigations, risk management and assessment processes, implementing and monitoring of initiatives and programs and adherence to regulatory obligations
  • Proven attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent organizational, time management and office management skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills, with a courteous and pleasant customer service focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Capability to multi-task, self-manage and self-motivate
  • Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
