Position Description:
Barrick is looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the Underground Engineering team.
Responsibilities:
Compile, review, and interpret geotechnical data to ensure safety and health in the workplace.
Prepare and manage the ground control management plan (GCMP).
Manage and maintain quality control programs for backfill and ground support.
Provide training and support of all underground geotechnical performance monitoring systems.
Perform excavation stability analyses as required.
Supervise all activities of employees and consultants under direction of the Geotechnical Engineering department.
Ensure that all activities at the site operate within safety, security and environmental policies and regulations, to protect the employees, contractors, and assets of the company.
Responsible for developing, training, and supervising a team of engineers within the underground geotechnical group.
Develop and maintain a close working relationship with all mine groups to achieve safety and production goals.

Qualifications:
Minimum B.A. or B.S. in Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, or Mine Engineering (Rock Mechanics emphasis) Required
5+ years experience working in an underground and surface mining operations with a range of exposure to a broad spectrum of practical and technical areas Required
Acts in a manner that builds trust and demonstrates integrity Required
Develops and maintains a positive working relationship with others Required
Strong verbal and written communication skills Required
Strong computer skills in various geotechnical and mining software packages Required

Barrick Nevada is an integrated gold mining operation that combines the Cortez and Goldstrike properties in Nevada, employing a total of 3,000 employees and 800 contractors. The operation utilizes both open pit and underground mining methods with Autoclave and Roaster processing facilities at Goldstrike and Milling/Heap Leaching facilities at Cortez.
