Position Description:

Barrick is looking for a Senior Mine Engineer to join the Underground Technical Services team and be an integral part of a step change in operational effectiveness and technical excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of EITs/Technologists responsible for delivering designs, prints and layouts to the underground development and production teams
• Provide focused review of your team’s deliverables to ensure completeness and accuracy
• Perform economic evaluations on stope shape and mining method trade-offs
• Plan the development and extraction sequence for ore blocks

• Coordinate with mine operations to ensure plan compliance and to minimize disruptions

• Complete regular variance reports and stope status reports

• Coordinate with the open pit, maintenance and operations planning groups to minimize disruptions to the mining plan

 Qualifications:

• Degree in Mining Engineering Required

• Member of professional association, or eligible to become a member

• A minimum of five years of underground Mining Engineering experience

• Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles and a demonstrated knowledge of Canadian/American Engineering standards

• Strong presentation and verbal skills. Able to communicate ideas and recommendations in both written and verbal forms across all levels of the organization in a clear manner

• Excellent time and productivity management skills

• Excellent computer skills including: Microsoft Office, Vulcan, and Deswik

• Proven ability to perform in a safe and efficient manner Required

The Hemlo property consists of Williams Operating Corporation, an underground and open pit mine, located approximately 350 kilometers east of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
