Barrick Turquoise Ridge Joint Venture Operations is located in the Potosi Mining District, about 70 kilometers northeast of Winnemucca, Nevada. Barrick is the operator and 75% owner of the mine with Newmont owning the remaining 25%.

 

Role Summary

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementation of maintenance excellence throughout all aspects of the Turquoise Ridge Underground operation.  Continue to optimize, coordinate and implement Turquoise Ridge equipment and fixed asset maintenance strategy to ensure sound maintenance practices.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Review, recommend and assist in the implementation of new policies, procedures and practices that decrease equipment and fixed asset replacement costs over time.  Where necessary, establish plans, policies and procedures which extend the useful life of existing equipment and fixed assets. 
  • Optimize preventive existing maintenance plans and programs thereby reducing downtime related to equipment and fixed assets. 
  • Ensure all equipment performance targets and work management KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) are achieved within the constraints of the maintenance budget. Effectively promote, deploy and comply with all Safety & Health and Environmental policies, standards, procedures and regulations across Maintenance department. 
  • Some duties include: develop annual budgets, prepare and submit capital budget, participate in incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are effectively implemented and tracked; other duties as assigned.
  • Lead the maintenance team in continuous improvement of maintenance management practices and performance through the incorporation of leading edge technology and systems
  • Conduct operational effectiveness reviews to ensure environmental compliance.

 

 

Knowledge & Experience

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:  To be considered for this job, applicants must meet these basic requirements:

  • BSc degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mine Engineering or equivalent trade qualifications preferred
  • Ten (10) years direct experience to maintenance and reliability of mining equipment preferred (Mine shaft and hoisting systems preferred)
  • Budgeting and cost management experience required
  • Excellent safety and environmental track record required
  • Mobile, fixed and electrical background preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project and MS Outlook required
  • Familiarity with computerized maintenance systems such as Oracle and eAM preferred
  • Proficiency in conducting failure analysis and root cause investigation techniques preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and work effectively in a team required
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing required
