Position Description:

 

Barrick is looking for a Geologist 3 to join the Underground Geology team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a strong contribution to the site safety culture and programs, encouraging and ensuring others do the same

  • Work with mining crews, mine supervision and drilling crews to maintain a safe working environment

  • Manage the core and RC drilling activities in support of the Underground Drilling Programs

  • Manage the inclusion and reporting of results for QA/QC sample data

  • Manage budgets for Underground drill programs including geotechnical, infill and step out drilling

  • Manage and standardize geological logging of underground diamond core and RC chips

  • Update geological interpretation using 3D software

  • Assist with geological studies as necessary 

  • Prepare routine reports as required

  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Geology or related field required

  • Excellent safety record required

  • Ability to work within a team environment and possess excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required

  • Previous underground mine (or open pit) operations experience 7+ years preferred

  • Familiarity with Vulcan, LeapFrog and Acquire software an advantage preferred

Barrick Nevada is an integrated gold mining operation that combines the Cortez and Goldstrike properties in Nevada, employing a total of 3,000 employees and 800 contractors. The operation utilizes both open pit and underground mining methods with Autoclave and Roaster processing facilities at Goldstrike and Milling/Heap Leaching facilities at Cortez.
