(IDEX Online News) – Recently released Angola ministry of geology and mines figures showed that the country produced and marketed more than 760,000 carats of diamonds valued at approximately $80 million, according to a report on macuahub.com.
The ministry said that production increased 2.28 percent, thought to be due to raised production at the Catoca mine and sales showed a 5.35-percent increase over May. Production at Catoca accounted for 82 percent of the volume by carats and 56 percent by sales value.
Angola’s diamonds sold for an average of $150 per carat and were also recovered from the Lulo, Somiluana, Camutué and Luo projects.
