Construction on the A$1.76-billion Byerwen coal project, in Queensland, is slated to start shortly after project partners QCoal and Japan’s JFE Steel Corporation approved the development.
The agreement came after the Queensland state government last month granted mining leases to Byerwen Coal, a joint venture company between JFE Steel and QCoal, to develop two tenements in the project.
