Epiroc says it has celebrated a new milestone together with its strategic partner Pucobre with the delivery of five 65 t class Epiroc Minetruck MT65 S trucks to its facilities in Tierra Amarilla in Chile’s Atacama Region. This equipment is part of a fleet renewal plan, which considers a total of 22 trucks to be delivered during 2026 and 2027. The trucks are to be used across Pucobre’s main underground copper mines – Punta del Cobre, Granate, and Mantos de Cobre.
The OEM says the new MT65 S stands out for its increased productivity, a robust focus on safety and the comfort it provides to operators, allowing for more efficient and ergonomic work in each cycle. “Each of these enhancements is backed by the insights provided by its advanced telemetry systems, which allow real-time performance monitoring, operation optimisation, and data-driven decision support.”
Epiroc added: “We thank Pucobre for their trust and for making us part of this ceremony that reinforces our shared vision of modern, safe and sustainable mining. We continue to move forward together with our clients to promote solutions that transform and enhance Chilean mining.”
The order was originally announced in July 2025. Including digital solutions it was valued at around MSEK 235 (today over US$26 million) and was booked in the second quarter of 2025. Epiroc is also providing service and spare parts for the equipment.
The digital elements ordered include Fleet+ and the add-on solution Fleet+ ShiftGoals which provide visibility into machine performance and goal tracking via the My Epiroc interface. Cited benefits include reduced fuel consumption, improved fleet utilisation and increased operator safety. Pucobre also ordered Asset Health Information Service, which delivers high-frequency sensor data and alerts through integration with the customer’s own systems, which in turn supports advanced monitoring and performance tracking of the machine fleet.
Epiroc says the MT65 S “is a high-capacity, automation-ready underground truck, engineered with smart features to ensure productivity, safety, and reliability in larger underground mining and construction operations. Combining high ramp speeds with improved energy efficiency, this mining truck leads to dramatically increased productivity, reducing fuel consumption and overall running costs.”
It also refers to an increased speed of 10% going up the ramp as well as 18% going downhill, depending on the application. This is a result of the updated axle ratio, transmission, and optimised gear selection, making sure the gear shifting will take place at the right time, both during upshifting and downshifting. Epiroc additionally cites greater reliability thanks to extended life of the main components, a completely new electrical system and a more protected component location.
